Software Developer (Java/J2EE)

Accentus, the leading provider of Integrated Medical Document Management Solutions to major hospitals across North America, has an immediate requirement for a Java/J2EE Software Developer. The incumbent will be required to specify, design, develop and implement new and modified features on a medical transcription platform and other software applications.This developer plans, coordinates and participates in development activities and works within a physically distributed software development team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop of new features on Apex system.
  • Design and develop Apex system enhancements.
  • Evaluate, design and integrate third party subsystems as needed.
  • Evaluate test results on developed software.
  • Plan development projects, assign and monitor work to other developers as required.
  • Work with Customer and Technical Support personnel to resolve daily issues as needed.
  • Assist monitor JBoss Application servers using available tools and interfaces.
  • Assist in the technical upgrades planned for the Apex system.
  • Help / answer questions for “How to” and “Train the trainer” on features within the Apex system.
  • Additional duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrate competence with:
    o SQL
    o Oracle
    o Object and relational databases
    o Python
    o Java
    o Java sound API
    o SWT
    o Eclipse
    o CVS
    o J2EE
    o Open Source solutions
    o Third party APIs and libraries
    o Linux/Unix environments
  • Able to provide software solutions based on client specifications.
  • Able to design and develop efficient, reliable and scalable system features.
  • Understands testing methodologies and able to interpret test results.
  • Web design skills including information architecture, interface design and visual design is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of all phases of the project developments and implementation live cycle.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, concurrent high-priority projects.
  • Ability to think quickly and deliver under tight deadlines and to adapt to changing needs and requirements.
  • Strong verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to build positive rapport with internal and external resources.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in specialty area.
  • Project planning and estimating.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree
  • 3-5 years in software and object oriented development
