Opened in 1963, York Central Hospital (YCH) is a large community hospital (472 beds) located in Richmond Hill providing Emergency, Inpatient, Ambulatory, Continuing and Long-Term Care services to a community of over 500,000 residents in Southwest York Region. Last year the hospital completed Phase One of its major expansion and renovation project significantly expanding its treatment facilities and inpatient beds. In addition to the services it provides locally, York Central Hospital is the District Stroke Centre for York Region and is home to a number of regional services including: the York Region Chronic Kidney Disease Program, York Region Domestic Assault and Sexual Assault Care Centre, and the York/Simcoe Behaviour Management and Autism Programs.
Looking to replace their dictation and transcription solution provider, YCH joined Southlake General and Stevenson Memorial Hospital in an RFP issued by the Central Ontario Healthcare Procurement Alliance (COHPA) for the provision of a hosted dictation/transcription technology solution and outsourced medical transcription services in February 2009. With an uncompromising focus on quality, YCH wanted a vendor with not only a comprehensive quality assurance program but also one with entrenched and proven processes to monitor and evaluate the various aspects of the transcription workflow ensuring that quality standards were being met on an ongoing and proactive basis.Their other main focus was on turn-around-time, timely reporting to provide the highest level of patient care.
Today, all YCH dictation and transcription is done over Accentus eDoc, a voice recognition enabled dictation and transcription technology hosted in Ottawa, Canada The transcription is handled by a team of highly qualified Accentus transcription and business professionals. Accentus is currently handling over 400,000 minutes of transcription annually for YCH.
